OUTBACK ADVENTURE 2010
25th September to 2nd October.(School Holidays)
Hi everyone, on Saturday 22nd May, Trek Quest had there AGM and it was decided to increase the teams entered to 20. So this means we have an extra 5 spots available, Three spots was grabbed very quickly. At this stage we have 2 spots remaining.
The roads are now open and we will be doing the final part of the reckie in July, I think we are going to take a detour to have a look at Lake Eyre as it is only full every 30 years and has water in it every ten years.
This years trip takes us through some awesome outback country side.
Casino to Mungallala Via BIRDSVILLE
Yes Nindigully is back on the agenda (oldest Pub in QLD) with a Pig on the spit and a cold beer, how goods that!
Then through to Thargomindah (third place in the world to get electric street lights).
From here the scenery really changes and the country becomes unforgiving on the road called "the Adventure Way", we’ll travel to Noccundra Hotel (heritage listed 1882) then onto the famous Bourke and Wills Dig Tree. Crossing the border into South Oz to Innamincka where they have just had major flooding. (Due to the Drought Busters coming)
We then head to Birdsville for two nights and of course the famous Birdsville Pub, after the drive from Innamincka to Birdsville through the beautiful Strzelecki Desert either via Australia’s largest shearing shed or Walkers Crossing 4x4 heaven. We will all deserve a cold beer and a day to relax to have a look at the attractions around Birdsville. (Big Red and the Birdsville museum)
Next we head to Windorah but on the way will stop at an unbelievable lookout with a very special tree. We will call into some ruins with some very old graves.
Next we head to Toompine via our friends at Eromanga (furthest Pub from the sea in Australia) Kids will love Toompine due to all the different types of animals like a very friendly Camel, Lamas, goats, Calf’s and of course the adults will enjoy the crazy tennis night, more details to follow.
Mungallala is our last destination and presentation night with an easy drive and no sign of dust, we will have plenty of time to relax by the pool.
We had great honour in presenting a cheque to OURKIDS for $14,000; this can only be possible through people like yourselves. You should be very proud of the achievement and the contribution that you made. Have a look at OURKIDS web site (www.ourkids.org.au) to see where the money is spent.
Winners are Grinner's
The 2009 TREK QUEST OUTBACK ADVENTURE has been run, with great news for OURKIDS. $14,000 was raised by the teams entered in the 7 day OUTBACK adventure

Peter and Karen Arthur have been involved in fundraising for Angel Flight and Our Kids for the last 9 years. As part of that fundraising, they've travelled through some of the most remote areas in Australia.

With the number of charities increasing all the time, Peter and Karen have taken an innovative approach to making sure that their efforts will stand out from the crowd. They've established a local organisation called Trek Quest, which will focus on fundraising efforts that are high profile and involve adventure, making it attractive for both sponsors and participants.
We made a well publicised trip across the country in a 4WD in 2005. With the help of our sponsors, it was a very successful trip, resulting in a record breaking dual crossing of the continent. Please have a look at www.4wdcoasttocoast.com.au for more details, including photos of the trip.
